MEIFHA Pauses Hockey until January 4th, 2022.

Good Morning Metro East Inferno Families,

We hope you are all enjoying some time with your loved ones over this latest wave of precautions and restrictions.
Unfortunately, these latest restrictions include gathering limits for sports which are currently capped at 10, including coaches/chaperones. This would limit the amount of players on the ice at any one session to 6-8 depending on the team staff availability.  In communication with all Provincial hockey partners, Hockey Nova Scotia in conjunction with NS Public Health, has stated that these restrictions will remain in place until at least January 12th, 2022.

After a MEIFHA Board meeting last night we have decided to pause our hockey season for the entire Association. MEIFHA will be officially pausing all Association hockey related activities from today until January 4th, 2022. As that date approaches, we as a Board will evaluate the situation and make a decision as to if and how we will restart the current season with the restrictions in place. We are very much looking forward to getting back on the ice and getting our girls to experience the sport they love.

As always, when hockey play resumes, we support all of our members in making their own decisions for their own safety to play or not within the mandated rebound plan restrictions.

Thank you for your continued support and being a part of this incredible Inferno family. We from the entire MEIFHA Board, wish everyone Happy Holidays.

Sincerely,

Chris

SCOTIABANK GIRLS HOCKEYFEST AND PWHPA DREAM GAP TOUR COMING TO TRURO IN NOVEMBER

FEMALE PLAYERS INVITED TO REGISTER FOR SCOTIABANK GIRLS HOCKEYFEST IN NOVEMBER

Scotiabank has teamed up with Hockey Nova Scotia and the PWHPA to offer an opportunity to learn from the top hockey players in Canada!

Female hockey players registered with Hockey Nova Scotia teams and programs are invited to take part in Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest. The event gets underway on Sunday, Nov. 14 at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre in Truro.

During this free half-day event, girls aged 7-18 years will have the chance to participate in on-ice drills, off-ice training sessions, and a nutrition classroom session with players from the PWHPA Secret Dream Gap Tour. To build on the momentum of the tour, Scotiabank is excited to welcome a PWHPA coach to lead the on-ice sessions, along with PWHPA players supporting both the on-ice and off-ice sessions.

A lottery registration system is now live and will remain open until Sunday, Oct. 31 at 11 p.m. Please click on this link to register.

Participants must be registered with a Hockey Nova Scotia team, program, or association for the 2021-22 season in order to be considered for this event. Due to expected high demand, participants will be selected by a lottery registration system. Participants will be randomly selected and assigned to a morning or afternoon session based on their age. If selected, registrants will receive a confirmation email on Friday, Nov. 5. All other registrants will receive an email notifying them of their addition to the waitlist on Nov. 5. Should a player withdraw from the session requested, players on the waitlist will be contacted by email to confirm acceptance.

The PWHPA Secret Dream Gap Tour action gets underway at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre in Truro on Friday, Nov. 12. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online through Ticketpro.

A special discounted ticket offer is available for Hockey Nova Scotia members. Click here to learn more.

HNS Vaccination Policy & MEIFHA Volunteer Registration

Due to the impending implementation of the government's Proof of Vaccination policy on October 4th (see FAQ link below), MEIFHA is taking the initiative to try to simplify the process for our membership.  We are therefore asking ALL of our volunteers (all Coaches or prospective coaches, managers, treasurers, trainers, chaperones, evaluation helpers, executive members, team safety reps, etc. including  potential volunteers for the upcoming season, to take a moment to complete the  MEIFHA Volunteer Registration form (form link below).  The intention is to expedite the in-person vaccine validation process, by having a list of volunteers on hand, so we do not need to spend time collecting more information while we are at the rink.

The actual validation of 'proof of vaccination' MUST be provided to the association IN PERSON , as per the NS government policy.  We cannot receive a scan, email or fax copy. We will not be maintaining any records of vaccinations - we will only be tracking whether or not the proof of vaccination has been verified.  Dates and locations for the in-person validation will follow soon.

Please note, as per the NS government policy, there is no grace period for adults - you must be fully vaccinated to be approved October 4th (see Full Vaccination link below).  If you do not meet this criteria, you will not be approved until the date of your second dose plus 14 days for full efficacy.

Please contact Melita Scott - MEIFHA Association Safety Rep with any questions or concerns.
